Engineer, Corrosion Modeling, Simulation

The Job purpose is to be Corrosion Modeling, Simulation & Control Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Company Manufacturing. The role operates as a Global Engineering Expert as part of the Corrosion and Civil Engineering team within the Asset Technology Center with the purpose to drive the Asset Integrity Vision for continuous improvement in reducing operational risks, increasing revenue and optimizing cost across all Manufacturing sites globally. Providing technical leadership on Corrosion Modeling, Simulation & Control, giving technical support and recommendations to sites/affiliates. Undertaking studies and analysis on Corrosion Modeling, Simulation & Control -related topics. Globally enhance technical competencies of Company engineers in the Corrosion Modeling, Simulation & Control areas of expertise to drive long term value creation to Comapny Achieving safe operation and optimum asset utilization across all Companies global sites, through:

1. Expertise deployment for solutions & improvements.

2. Development and deployment of world class practices and functional expertise.

3. Identifying improvement opportunities through internal and external networks.

4. Networking & knowledge management and sharing.

5. Support all sites/affiliates and functions with high-level technical expertise to achieve

business goals.

Key Accountabilities

Technical Leadership:

1.Conduct studies and analysis related to Corrosion Modeling, Simulation & Control, develop new and/or enhance the efficiency of protective/preventive measures for mitigation of related failures.

2. Identify, evaluate and develop relevant Companies Manufacturing Standards (SMS) & Best Practices (BP) to improve the maintenance & reliability in equipment/components.

3. Ensure timely review for Companies Engineering Standards (SES) related to Corrosion Modeling, Simulation & Control.

4. Initiate new ideas and identify novel solutions relevant to Corrosion Modeling, Simulation & Control within Companies.

5. Address Corrosion Modeling, Simulation & Control issues affecting asset reliability, and maintain knowledge of upcoming technological improvements.

6. Ensure structural safety, reliability and serviceability of Equipment through optimization of Corrosion Modeling, Simulation & Control in Companies Manufacturing sites globally.

Technical Support and Engagement:

  1. Work with Regional Asset Support (RAS) team by conducting technical support & consultation on high impact MSRs (Level 3) to resolve chronic failures/issues releated to Corrosion Modeling, Simulation & Control at SABIC Manufacturing sites globally.
  2. Support SABIC Manufacturing in technical audits/assessments/cold eye reviews and remaining life assessment initiatives.
  3. Diagnostic investigation and troubleshooting for Metallurgy, Microstructure & Condition Assessment issues.
  4. Provide expert knowledge on safety and reliability related programs applicable to SABIC SHEMS and OMS.5. Work with GPS to pre-qualify and re-qualify Corrosion Modeling, Simulation & Control contractors and materials manufacturers.
  5. Evaluate new technologies and equipment related to Corrosion Modeling, Simulation & Control.

Knowledge and Network Management:

1. Communicate critical business cases in the from of Technical Alerts (TA) and SMS to Global Manufacturing.

2. Participate in internal and external Corrosion Modeling, Simulation & Control technical exchange meetings, forums, conferences and committees.

3. Manage the Corrosion Modeling, Simulation & Control Expert Group meetings and knowledge sharing.

Competency Development, Mentoring and Coaching

1. Develop and delivery of specialized, Corrosion Modeling, Simulation & Control training to SABIC manufacturing engineers globally.

2. Mentor and coach SABIC Manufacturing Affiliates/Sites Corrosion Modeling, Simulation & Control engineers.

Problem solving/Decision making:

Manage cultural differences (language, time zones, background, social, religions) to ensure effectiveness of Expert Group and Value-Adding Initiatives.

Broad technical knowledge of Corrosion Modeling, Simulation & Control.

Communicate effectively and confidently to all levels within SABIC from Executive Level to Operator Level.

Deal with Affiliates on-site both locally in KSA and Globally.

Use influence to achieve objectives (management complexity).

Provides new ideas and leadership to sustain and improve reliability and availability of equipment through optimization of Corrosion Modeling, Simulation & Control of all affiliates.

Minimum Requirements

Holding a Bachelor Degree of Science (BS) in Chemical Engineering.

At least 15 years of engineering experience in Corrosion Modeling, Simulation & Control.

Recognized technical/engineering expert on design, maintenance, operation and troubleshooting of equipment in fields relvant to Corrosion Modeling, Simulation & Control in Petrochemical and Oil & Gas industries as demonstrated by significant accomplishments and contributions acquired over a period of 15 or more years.

Knowledge and certification in relevant standards, best practices and techniques.

Possesses a thorough knowledge of general principles and theories related to Corrosion Modeling, Simulation & Control and contributes significantly to the solution of a variety of unique and complex engineering problems.

Experience of people management and ability to use influence to achieve results.

Flexible and able to re-prioritize tasks based on changing business need.

Excellent communication skills both interpersonal skills and presentation skills to all levels including executive management.

Above average proficiency in English language (written and spoken).

Proficient in MS Office® applications (with advanced knowledge of MS Excel®

Experience within the Gulf States would be advantageous.

Knowledge of petrochemicals static equipment engineering.
